About Us

Kaz – Horticulturist / Land Manager / Conservationist

I never imagined spending my life doing something that didn’t involve being in the great outdoors. Growing up on a dairy farm in country Victoria I was always outside. Whether it be climbing trees, rounding up the cows, mowing lawns for mum and dad or building a bonfire down the paddock, I was always in nature. It was from a young age that I developed a passion for the environment, trees, gardens and the land.

Over the years of have learnt a vast and varied range of skills which brings me to where I am now, someone with a unique and broad skill set. I can drive tractors and farm machinery, fell trees, stain wood, build fences, prune, mow, propagate, just to name a few. I have been taught the value of hard work and the importance of a healthy work life balance. I do believe and live by the fact that if your job is passion and you love it, then you never work a day in your life.

After working in the Conservation Land Management field for much of my adult life, from farming to weed control, revegetation projects and tree felling I now find myself being drawn to sharing our sustainable living lifestyle that we have and continue to develop within our own little farmlet.

Sarah – Land Manager / Environmentalist / Ideas & Handy Woman

I grew up on the outskirts of Melbourne and was a keen camper from the early days. I have always been inspired by the wonders of nature and….. I won’t lie, as a kid, I used to watch Agro’s Cartoon Connection and drew inspiration from Ranger Stacey too.

After completing a Bachelor in Park Management and Honours in Environmental Science I have gone on to have a successful career working in the land management, sustainable farming, and sustainability sector. Not to mention working with Kaz to transform our 5-acre bare paddock into the sustainable farm and home it is today.

I was always encouraged to build things, get on the tools and get creative in the garage from an early age (like the pencil case made out of hardwood in grade 2 that weighed a tonne and I had to carry all the way to school!) This love of creating things has stayed with me throughout my life and has seen me renovate houses, build furniture, decks, pergolas, planter boxes, gates, fences, carports, beds and shelving – mostly with recycled materials that were destined for landfill.
